Our very first short film. A story of a girl trapped in a dream, working through the causes and motivations for her entrapment. Winner of Best First-Time Directors.
Our very first short, and in many sense our very first time behind the camera. We never became filmmakers due to our love of cameras, or lighting, or really anything other than STORY. We were storytellers at heart. Spending most of our time writing books, novellas, short stories. And for us, Film felt like a medium to tell great stories that had inspired us.
Perennial is a story of a girl trapped in a dream. Similar to that of Groundhog Day or Inception. With a simple note that recurs saying 'This is a dream'. And as she works her way through it. The causes and motivations for her entrapment become more clear.
It by no means is a work of great art, and while it did win a few awards, namely Best First-Time Directors. What we were happy about was the ability to create and tell a complete story with no experience, and have something watchable come from it. It always is difficult to watch your first work, but to us, this was the first time our fingerprints were on a project. And to this day it's something we look back proudly of, regardless of flaws.
